Thermal inspection

Thermography measures surface temperatures by using infrared video and still cameras. These tools see light that is in the heat spectrum. Images on the video or film record the temperature variations of the building's skin, ranging from white for warm regions to black for cooler areas. The resulting images helps determine whether insulation is needed.

A thermographic inspection is either an interior or exterior survey. Our energy auditor decides which method would give the best results under certain weather conditions. Interior scans are more common, because warm air escaping from a building does not always move through the walls in a straight line. Heat loss detected in one area of the outside wall might originate at some other location on the inside of the wall. Also, it is harder to detect temperature differences on the outside surface of the building during windy weather. Because of this difficulty, interior surveys are generally more accurate because they benefit from reduced air movement.

Thermographic scans are also commonly used with a blower door test running. The blower door helps exaggerate air leaking through defects in the building shell. Such air leaks appear as black streaks in the infrared camera's viewfinder.

To prepare for an interior thermal scan, the homeowner should take steps to ensure an accurate result. This may include moving furniture away from exterior walls and removing drapes. The most accurate thermographic images usually occur when there is a large temperature difference (at least 20°F [14°C]) between inside and outside air temperatures. In northern states, thermographic scans are generally done in the winter. In southern states, however, scans are usually conducted during warm weather with the air conditioner on.

Some times of the year, because of a phenomenon known as “thermal loading,” it might be necessary for the homeowner–depending on local conditions--to create and maintain a specific inside/outside temperature difference for a period of up to four hours before the test will be performed.

Soundproofing

Insulation Alliance provides acoustical solutions to soundproofing, noise control, acoustical and vibration problems which could arise from devices such as vocal, instrumental music, stereos and TVs etc. or stepping, running, jumping occupant living floor above either produced by machines in commercial areas.

Usually, in residential houses sound is broken down between airborne and impact noise.

Airborne noise is transmitted through the air and atmosphere and experienced through the likes of people talking, TV noise, dogs barking etc. When sound waves travel through the air and reach a building element they hit it and cause it to vibrate. These vibrations travel through the structure or building and are radiated out the other side albeit at a reduced volume.

Impact noise is the physical impact on buildings or solid materials. Examples being footfall, doors banging, walking and furniture moving. Impact sound occurs because the impact causes both sides of the building element to vibrate, generating sound waves. This can often be the hardest to isolate as impact vibrations are stronger and travel further through dense materials

Most of us have experienced impact and airborne noise, or a combination of the two.

Soundproofing can be reachable by different ways like by using special type of insulation, resilient channel, Mass Loaded Vinyl, Green Glue Compound, resilient channel with multiple layers of drywalls or staggered stud walls etc.

Spray Foam insulation

In the world of insulation, spray foam is the optimum solution, adding the benefit of air sealing to excellent heat resistance. Other insulations, like fiberglass or blown cellulose, allow conditioned air to escape the home while allowing unconditioned outside air to infiltrate the attic, crawlspace, or walls. Adding the extra element of air sealing will help your HVAC system do its job more efficiently, increasing its life expectancy, and lowering your energy costs.

Insulation Alliance has a reputation for providing practical, effective solutions at best prices. When you hire us, you’ll not only get quality workmanship that delivers results, but the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’re working with Bay Area best spray foam insulation contractor. We can do any home or commercial insulation project in the Bay Area. Call us at (877) 928-1513 for your free estimate, and see how we can help you go green and wise.

The two types of spray foam are closed cell and open cell.  Closed cell spray foam cures to a rigid state, and has the added benefit of strengthening the structure it is applied to and also it provides higher R value than any other insulation. Open cell spray foam is spongy, full of millions of air bubbles, much like the foam in chair or mattress, and has the added benefit of creating an excellent sound barrier.  Both types of spray foam are excellent insulators and air sealers.  When the temperature is creeping over 90 degrees, you will appreciate the comfort that only spray foam insulation can provide.
